Delighted to announce that my illustrated short story "Kodama" is going to be included in TOMO: Friendship Through Fiction -- An Anthology Of Japan Teen Stories. The book is edited by Holly Thompson, coming out from Stone Bridge Press in March, 2012.
Proceeds from the sale of this book will go to benefit teens affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.
Another reason I'm excited: the format I chose for this story is new for me: a story told through sketchbook pages of the teen protagonist. I'm experimenting a little with this in a YA novel I'm currently working on as well; my manuscript was recently nominateded for the 2011 SCBWI Sue Alexander "Most Promising Work" Award. It didn't win, but just being nominated was a huge honor for me.
Anyway, I've posted about TOMO in my Inkygirl blog.
